The title should be self explanatory. As a member of this board, there are some ideals that should be upheld in order to keep things running smoothly for everyone.

    1. Respect
It's not just earned, a minimum level of respect is required for everyone.

    2. Maturity
We might all be of different ages, but that is no excuse for poor behavior. Please treat this group, and your forum-mates with a level of seriousness

    3. Questions
Questions are not a crime. This is a group geared for educating each other, for this reason, questions should be expected and encouraged. If, however; a question is too personal, or is uncomfortable, you have a right to say so. Remember "I'm not sure", "I don't know", "I don't know how to explain" are answers. Also keep in mind, the truth is not always pleasant nor is it always what you want to hear. We welcome open debate, and believe it to be an important tool in learning about ourselves and each other. Expect questions. Blatant harassment or heated arguments are not welcome.

    4. Open-Mindedness and Skepticism
Keep an open mind, but not so much your brain falls out.
Open-mindedness is not a matter of how much, or what kind of things, you believe in. It is the ability to accept new claims and concepts. Acceptance is not belief or agreement. It is the act of recognizing and allowing things to be. Skepticism, in this forum, is not doubt. It is the ability to withhold judgement (agreement or disagreement) until information is presented that sways you one way or another.
Consider these to further illustrate these concepts: Open-Mindedness - QualiaSoup, Skepticism - Zoe Hue, Critical Thinking - QualiaSoup

    5. Beliefs, Claims and Burden-of-Proof
As an educational and social group, we explore both Subjective (personal) and Objective (absolute) Reality. With this, it is important to understand the difference. Opinions, beliefs and hypotheses (or common theory) are potential examples of Subjective reality, or personal truths. Scientific Theory, and proven facts are Objective reality. It is especially important to understand that when making claims of fact, regarding the physical world that we all exist in and can observe for ourselves, you may be asked to supply evidence to prove your claims.

Objective reality is true for everyone, Subjective reality is only true for individuals unless it can hold up to testing, and thus becomes Objective reality. Take care in word choice, be sure to describe beliefs and personal experience as beliefs and personal experience and facts as facts. This will help us all to understand each other better, and allow for more cohesive learning.
For more see, "Burden of Proof - QualiaSoup"

    6. Personal Information
Given that some of our members may be minors (not legal adults), we ask that you do not share personally identifying information in the boards. Things such as phone numbers, email addresses, pictures of your whole face (specific for minors), specific locations/mailing addresses; will not be accepted in forums, threads and posts. If these things are shared, you will be asked to change your post, or it will be changed for you by staff.

    7. Spam and Advertising
Spam is considered to be anything shared that is irrelevant to the topic at hand. If you post a recipe in a quilting thread (for example), your post will be considered spam. Commercial advertising (RayBan, male enhancement, etc.) , is also not allowed.
